Coach Joseph "JP" Hanna began his coaching career at Lock Haven High School in 1982 as a Varsity Assistant. Coach Hanna helped lead Lock Haven to five district titles from 1991-1996 and an undefeated regular season in 1995 all under PSFCA Hall of Fame head coach Mike Packer.

Coach Hanna continued his coaching career at Central Mountain with the consolidation of Lock Haven, Bald Eagle Nittany, and Sugar Valley High Schools in 1999, where he served as an Assistant Coach for numerous coaches until 2025. Over his 43 year career, Coach Hanna helped produce numerous conference and all-state players at both Lock Haven and Central Mountain. He also had the opportunity to help coach all four of his sons, two sons Joe (1997) and Brian (1999) at Lock Haven and his other two sons at Central Mountain, Sean (2004) and Stephen (2008).
